Drawing Attention to the Wrong Spot!

In art, one of the principles of design is directional force. Directional force is what causes the viewer’s eyes to move around. This costume designer really utilized directional force not only with the crotch-topus, the slit right up the middle, but by including lots of little arrows pointing toward “a very naughty bit indeed!”

Lingerie Meets Belly Dance Costume

Reincarnation of the Nipple Adornment Bra

I have seen this bra before on EBay, but then it was still a complete costume (argh I can still see the picture in my mind!) with tacky face veil. I must have that picture saved on my old computer, so be patient, I'll find it one day. Not sure what happened to the rest of the costume, but do we really care?

Fringe Galore

Attack of the gigantic fringe! But the epaulettes and the nipple accents are bad too. The whole thing is just too chunky in design. I do think that the colors could work, this kind of blue and brown can match if the background is brown and there are a few blue adornments.

Dog Costume, Weird Veil and Bad Bra

For the bellydancing dog:

Even veils can go wrong, this one has some strange appendixes at the bottom:

Bonus for today: this bra has strange seems right over the middle, and of course fringe overload

What to Say?

This is definitely made by someone who knows how to make a costume and do beading, but the strange bra with targets on them and the stripes that make you dizzy... This costume would not even work for a belly dancer, how would it accentuate the movements?

It's in the details...

OK, costumes like these are not my style, so I can't judge them, maybe some like them, but that arm thingy!

BUTTerfly

What did the designer think when he stratigically placed the butterfly on the bum crack? Please no more designs like this!!!

What to do with left over fabric?

Lets say you got a hip scarf, mardi gras beads, some cheap glittery fabric and some appliques. Well this is what you do: (personally I find it a crime if someone cuts up a hipscarf and this must have been the beading of a decent one!)

Multi-color Again

Flowery cstume where one flower on the belt seems to puke....

No it is not nice when lingerie bra straps are still openly visible and when the belt has lining sticking out. I don't even say anything about the design

Odd Bits & Pieces

A white costume that looks like it has been made of plastic, a bra that could have been very nice but never got finished (lingerie bra straps still visible), and some kind of whitch belly dance costume?

Leopard Costume

Opinions are varying about this one: some love it, some hate it. I'd rather see two sleeves or no sleeves in this case and a skirt instead of pants.

Not belly dance, but too funny not to share

This comes from http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/ a site that's pretty similar to this one, but instead of belly dance costumes, the theme is cakes!

Original text below the picture: "Let's take a moment to really absorb the full impact of this wedding "cake". Drink it all in: the stacked strawberries, the bananas, the unfortunately positioned apricots ON the bananas, the rockin' plaid suit in the background..." http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/2008/07/freud-would-have-field-day.html

The text accompanying this picture was:

"Obviously someone needed to rein in this woman during the wedding planning. What kind of ego does it require to commission a life-sized replica of yourself in cake? But what really baffles me is this: the details are exact right down to the hair clip, so what the heck is UP with that tacky red rick-rack down the skirt of the cake? "Sure, we hand-painted a matching bodice-design, copied the make-up and hairstyle, and have identical veils - but then we thought this giant rick-rack would add just the right extra touch!" ?!?Obviously Bridezilla shares my opinion: she's eying that red trim with murder in her eyes. "

We have a belly dance version of a cake (yes it's even wearing a Ugly Belly Dance Costume!):
